Found this old DG thread on poisonous plants and pets, and the dialog is extremely useful: http://davesgarden.com/place/t/408169/
Bluesjuls wanted to know if cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) is poisonous and whether she should dig it up. In the above DG thread, on Nov 22, 2003 2:46 pm, Mobi posted a link that confirms cherry laurel as poisonous to dogs (as a general rule of thumb, it might be safe to assume that what's bad for the pooch is bad for the pus).
With regard to whether we should all rip these plants out of our gardens, Palmbob posted his vast experience as a vet on this subject, so that is really worth reading.
The whole thread is wonderful - all great input and links.
Incidentally, when I put "poisonous plants" + dogs into the search box of www.google.com , this is the first DG thread that came up - I didn't have to sift through oodles of possibilities that often come up using the DG search feature. Just make sure that you log into DG first before starting the search on Google (or other search engine).
For Bluesjuls' query regarding poisonous plants and pets
PS - I did the search for:
"poisonous plants" + dogs
in the DG search bar, and you just can't beat the hands-on experience of gardeners around here. So, in addition to Googling, researching through the DG search bar adds a lot of depth. This came up and thought it was cute:
