I have some Alaska fish fertilizer. It is 5/1/1. High in Nitrogen. Is it good for AVs? I am thinking of maybe spraying the leaves that have rooted. What do you think? thank you for any help.
fish fertilizer
anna..it is excellent...the same type fish emulsion is very good for av's...perhaps adding to the water would be better than the leaves...others will chim in i'm sure.
I used a little last month or manybe it was in February. It smells but the plants loved it. I think Kerying uses it as well.
yep it is excellent
We use to even put it into the water that was used to mix my soil-less mix with. I always bought mine from Gardens Alive.
When I see babies coming up with Mom leaf I 'd give them a drink put them close under the light and in a few weeks they were nice just perfect to separate !
It's also good if Mom died before white leaves were able to get some green. This will make the leaves nice and gree. for this reason I would not use it on variegated leaves/babies/plants.
Variegated ~ NO NO
Thank you Guys! I am going to give it to the plants now.
Allison, I don't have fish emulsion, but just ordered some kelp stuff (Agro-flash from Wayside)... will that work to green up leaves also? I have a couple of struggling baby AVs whose leaves are almost completely white....
I would say so. Is it liquid ? We use to also put Kelp Meal into our soil-less mix.
I have a foliage spray that is fish emulsion that I used on some of the plants. I didn't spray them just used it in the dirt and it helps I think. It is a mix I got from HD and it doesn't have much smell.
my house smell like a fish market today. all the neighbourhood cats are surrounding it. ;o)
LOL..this is why I don't use fish products in the house :)
I use them outside though :) on our trees and such
Cool. I'll give it a try on my houseplants & AVs... Maybe my house will smell like low tide, although it shouldn't be as noticible with just seaweed and not fish! I will see what the bottle smells like when I open it before I get too wild with it indoors, LOL.
