What is the heart shaped thing in the front? Is it a bloom or seed pod?

Hi Folks, Thanks for your interest in my pics. In fact, there are also more pending pics of these wonderful Staghorn Fern and some interesting plants form this part of the world that I have posted since a few days ago, you have to take a look!!

Actually, the white heart shape in the picture is a young spore-pad of the fertile frond.

The Ridley's staghorn seem to be a real tropical tender and quite difficul to take care of. But I would like to tell you all who love to keep this exotic fern that you have to give the plant as much as light, at least 50-70% half day light!!. In it habitat, this Staghorn grows on a high canopy and quite exposted to sunshine.

As this species is not have a pup, the only way to propagate is from spore that not so difficult now. Here is a three years old Ridley's staghorn raised from spore in my friend nursery, Bangkok city ,Thailand.

Kell and all,
...PLEASE DO NOT SHOCK !!! IF YOU SEE THE PHOTO BELOW...

Nothing much...it just I was looking at a mess of the most sought after staghorn. Everybody should ask...WHERE ?!!

Well...this is a local market near the border checkpoint of Myanmar (Burma) and Thailand. Overthere you will find Burmese people carried a "wild stuff" : staghorns, orchids, epiphytes, all rare Lycopodium sp., Hoya, Cycad, caudiciform, etc....from somewhere else in the deep jungle out there of Myanmar and offered them to the customers..from around the world!!!

You would note that there is also a big clump of Platycerium coronarium at the bottom of picture too.

Sadly, most of obtained stuffs by who that didn't know how to take care of them will finally "Back to the jungle!! (dead!)
