Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i received one of these in the mail. since it's so warm here now i decided to put it in the ground till the fall. it is in morning sun and has been in the ground 3-4 days. it came from puerto rico from calamus gardens. it just doesn't look like it is thriving and before it gets in too much trouble i just wanted to get some expert opinions? the name of the plant is burle marx. thanks for any information. barb

These plants love warm and humid atmosphere. Morning sun light is good but noon and after noon sun light can damage the plant.
Do you have photo of your philo?

hello it's you. how are you kaleem? no i don't have photo. i don't even have a digital camera. and if i had a digital camera i wouldn't know how to use it. i got it from calamus gardens in puerto rico. he told me it was one that was just found. i can't even describe it as it just looks similar to elephant ears only smaller, is green and that's about all i could say about it. as it isn't putting on new growth yet.
