Different Variegated oregano.

Bessemer City, NC(Zone 7b)

This is a variegated oregano (of the common garden center variety) that gorws up to 18" or so and has pseudo-evergreen parts close to the ground over winter.

The new foliage emerges bright yellow and green and later the yellow splashes, flecks and tracings all turn white.

I'll post some pictures later to show the matured foliage.

Sorry I took so long to get back, but I had to really think about your question.

As far as I can tell, it has as much flavor as the all-green variety that is grown by the herb company that supplies area garden centers here. I know that it would satisfy some and not others, as everyone has a different sense of taste and everyone has their own ideas as to what a 'good oregano" tastes like. I know I have tasted some Oreganos that weren't as good as others. Then there's that have a nice difference to them (Like the "Hot and Spicy" one), but you use it for some dishes and not others. I must admit that I'm not a cook and don't grow my herbs for the kitchen although I have used them to flavor foods and teas from time to time.

I'll have to dry some and test it and compare it to others and maybe pass it around and herb group to get some feedback.

I really only use herbs fresh for cooking--but nice looking plant--gonna have to see if I can find that variety around here.

It's good fresh too! I keep sampling it.

I've also been trying to locate by taste, my "Hot and Spicy" Oregano, but I can't find it!
