They are NOIDS, but I don't care. They are my first babies, so they are very special. Now I know I can grow from leaves. Whoo hoo!! Yippee! I'd take a pic of my big smilin' face, but I haven't showered yet and don't want to scare y'all! LOL!

How do I cut back the skirt on this one? It's growing under it's Mama. The big mother plant died, and I was sooooo hoping some of the leaves would take, that was all I had left. Now I'l have to come up with NOID names for them, since they'll be living and I can send them out as gifts. Ok, how much of the Mama leaf do I remove so the baby can get light? Do I wait to remove it, or should I cut it away now?

Thanks!!!!
Heather

One last thing real quick....

I'd like to say a special thanks to CritterO for encouraging me to put down some leaves! I had tried it once before w/ no luck and thought I couldn't do it right. She pointed me to some info and gave me a pat on the back...that was all I needed, along w/ a bit of patience. Thanks Jill, I thought this day would never come! Now I can't wait for my variegated ones to start to show life!! :~)

GOOD FOR YOU!!! It is so exciting when you 1st see the babies and I know that feeling of wondering if you can do it, especially when all these old pros are showing pictures of their babies! I am truly excited for you! Keep going, before you know it you will be the AV leaf tycoon!

I have now 5 leaves with little babies growing in them.At the start they were slow but now they are growing really fast.

It is so exciting when you get your first babies!! Congratulations!! As far as cutting back the mother leaf, I'm hoping some of our experts show up soon. I'd be inclined to leave it alone until the baby is well established. I think it will be ok underneath, but I'm pretty much a newbie at this, too.

Yeah I am sure that others will give better answers but if you take them too small they won't do so well. Once I did take mine they just took off and doubled size in no time at all. I'd at least make sure that you handle them easily before you take them, what I mean is large enough that you can use fingers rather than tweezers! Hope that helps.

Congratulations!!! *Happy Dancing* with you!

I wouldn't worry about trimming back the mama leaf unless the baby really seems to be suffering (turning yellow or something) from lack of light... My guess is that the little plantlet will soon be poking out from under mama's skirt!

Yahoo. Way to go!!!

Congratulations!! I would not cut the Mom until the babies are large . They may grow around her still. If they get big and start hitting her causing baby to grow crooked then I trim Mom !
Great growing ! Yippee

Thanks so much everyone! I will leave the Mama alone then and not cut her unless the baby looks deprived or crooked down the road a while. Thanks for letting me know.

I'll have to keep all of you Aunts and Uncles updated on the little one's growth. I think the best thing about these babies is they don't cry, and NO diapers!!! LOL
