help agian please

i am no veggie gardner but i am being broke into it by my faimly and husband really quick like.

my sil bought some onions the ones with the bulb and green stalky thing already on it. i think she bought them to late but i am no expert. she planted them just like a bulb with the stalky things above ground.

is this right??? wrong?? will they grow over the summer??

Yes that is the way to plant them. You may want to use them for green onions. Those Georgia Sweets sold by Bonnie Plant farms are the Hybrid Yellow Granex, a short day onion designed for winter growing. Harvest in Georgia is already underway, where they are sold as Vidalia onions. You will probably see seed heads began to form before the bulb sizes up. They still are usable as green onions however.
