Strong Wind & Tulips.............Ggrrrrr

Claremore, OK(Zone 6a)

This is the first year I've planted tulips. They came up and were absolutely beautiful . I was so pleased.

Unfortunately, the wind has been awful here in NE Okla.......... it just blew their petals all off in a couple of days. Quite the disappointment after waiting all winter to see what I planted.

somewhere, PA

I planted 300 tulips on a hillside and only one bloom survived the roving deer. Then I planted
200 tulips right by the road (so the deer wouldn't go there) and they ate every one right to the ground.
Sometimes ya just can't win!

Oh, I share your pain! Tulips are so lovely and so 'ephemeral'....

And those deer are so difficult to stay ahead of! I have mostly given up tulips and stick to daffodils and muscari. Deer don't eat 'em and if they are early the heat doesn't 'blast' them here like it does the tulips...I also dose every garden with Deer Scram, Liquid Fence and any other deer repellent (I rotate products)...

Still love the tulips, though, and I do try a few here and there hidden among the daffs...
