I finally have ears!! I am pretty sure it is an escargot. I had cut leaves into thirds and put in soil and perlite mix. Out of 18 there are only six left, and one of those made a baby :-) Next time I will try just perlite, but at least I have one so there is hope!

I should have written down the date but didn't. I think it took about four weeks. I'm still hopeful that the others will do something!
