This is Ohio Beautiful
3 Vintage plants from Rob's
They were purchased from Rob in October of last year. So I have had them a good 6 months. They were about 5 or 6 month old when I got them and quite small. I am pleased that they have bloomed within a year.
Nanna
Pretty Nanna
I don't think you pretty Happy Harold is going to be blue sorry .
Happy Harold (2169) 02/01/1971 (Rienhardt) Single red-wine. Variegated, plain. Standard
Do you have leaves down for beggers or Fall trades :))
Sunny Salmon (E. Champion) Double salmon-coral. Crown variegated medium green and yellow, plain. Standard
Is another one of my loves on my wish list by Ethel Champion !
The Plain and Fancy and Marmalade I sent you Nanna both hard to get Vintage by Ethel to. Not long ago saw Marmalade sell for $34.00 . Well they bot have nice variegation like Sunny Salmon.
All of them were real light in the begining then they got darker for me :(( They still are variegated some. I put mine in natural light hoping this will help. Hope they stay variegated for you. My Marmalade has's her first buds :)) I'm excited for her to bloom.
Nana, they are beautiful! What is the little one with dark leaves and pink flowers behind Harold, on the left?
Allison, what color is red wine. The stems as you can see are red and the bud looks kinda purple. Well we will see pretty soon.
I haven't put leaves down yet. There were none to spare when I got the plants. I'm trying to fingure out how I want to do this "Violet Thing". I haven't much space and I don't want the plants to get crowded. I have been thinning my collection to those that grow well for me. I have three dozen leaves down right now and over 50 plantlets and 25 mature plants. My hope is to trim my collection down to 35 well grown plants and work from there.
Spider. The little pink plant in the back is a noid. It is from Optimara, but it looks like several of there miniature plants. She grows well for me. Here is a close up
Oh Nana, that looks like a show plant! It is so beautiful. thank you for the photo.
Thank you Spider. That makes me happy. I really try hard to take care of my plants. That is why I am trying to decide what works well for me. It takes time to care for the plants and life has so many choices. I don't want to be spending more time with plants than I do with my family and friends. Not to mention gardening, house cleaning, and trying to give something back to the community.
Nana, you are doing an excellent job with your plants!
Thanks
Beautiful Nanna.I love the vintage plants. Sunny Salmon, wow!

I ordered Happy Harold! I expect it this month, I hope!

I'll post again when they are in full bloom.

From Rob's
Ohio Bountiful. A real oldie, and one of the "originals"--in this case double pink! From the early 1950's, this variety has double pink blooms and nice, round, quilted foliage. Actually, a very nice grower, and worth having if only for its historical significance and collectability! #419 (L. Lyon) $5.00
That's the one, Allison. The blooms are small but double and a nice shade of pink. Haven't seen the quilting the the leaves as yet. The new growth at the crown is a little puckery. I am happy with the plant. It went through a difficult beginning when I was having trouble with tight centers. But, happily it made it through and it is growing well.
What do you think Rob means when he says one of the "originals"?
