Good Morning, Allison. The start you sent of gray lady is surviving in my kitchen window. You plant is beautiful. How old is she and how long before my start will be that big?

Abilene, TX

Beautiful pictures. I love the color of the S. Cynthis. Is Chastity a strep or chimera?

Nanna the Epsicas like it warm and humid and they should root within a week . Alice show no bounderies.
This plant is not old I keep taking babies off. It may be a few months old. But it grew so fast I had to take it all off and make more little babies and then it just grew back. They never die . Least mine never have.
They grow like weeds I'm always giving them away. Gave Bob a few real big ones !
Pam Chastity is a Chirta :))
Thanks Kelly It's hard to see her flowers but their deep orange red with deep yellow thorat with red polka Dots !

Lali has sucked me into this forum enough that I have added it to my favorites. I love variegated leaves and warm blooms and so this thread caught my eye. Are the Epicas needing more humidity then AV in general? And is this one in particular, 'Grey Lady', easy to grow?
I really must get off of here as it is sunny outside and I really should be working on repotting things before the next onslaught of rain but these Gesneriads are a whole new subject for me and I keep clicking all the links! LOL!
I think I am in 'trouble'...sigh.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Not anmore humidiy is needed than reg Av's or Begons I would think. They don't lik it cold. All mne are grown in Natural light. They are extremely easy . I do nothing they do all the work. And I get to enjoy:0)

Sounds good to me! Thanks!

Allison I love E. Grey Lady. Just beautiful!

I agree with you April. Grey Lady is gorgeous!

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

I think that Allison should show us how easy she is to propagate, don't you Spidie?

Lilburn, GA

yes April!!

Well I certainly hope that she reads this and takes the hint, I hate to have to D mail her and ask directly!

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Does anyone know if Episcia can be prop'ed like AV's - by leaf? I broke some leaves and hate to toss them.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

You could progate by leaf but it will take forever a day or a year or may just turn to mush.
babies stolens are best methods.

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

darn! I was hoping top salvage the leaves. oh well. I did take a few stolon cuttings and put them in the perlite box with the lid. The need higher humidity here than my AV's and we're so darn dry even with the rain we have. i've been running the humidifyer to keep the air around 65%.

But they rooted fast. I have Blue Nile and Shelby's Best that rooted in no time at all.

Lilburn, GA

Do you take the stolons from mom before they have roots? I have no idea whta to do. Allison sent me an Alsobia that is full of babies and I would like to propagate it.

thank you for the help.

Spidie did you notice that Allison completely ignored my blatant hints?!

Allison. How often do I water?

How moist should the soil be? Should I let it dry out before watering?

Nanna I keep mine pretty moist , though latley the heat they have been drying before I get to them. But while rooting keep them moise. You can wick them if you like. Me I just pour the water in. lol
Sorry April yesterday I slept most the day. What is it you want me to show you ? You fill some sort of pot with soil-less mix. Cut the baby so when it goes into the soil you can push it all the way down till leaf area touches soil. Water thre real good. Put in light. Mine are all in natural light only place I have room. lol
What is to teach ??
