gunnera seeds for trade, want brug cuttings

Hooks, TX

I have for trade:
7 packets of 10 seeds each of gunnera manicata
3 packets of 10 seeds each of gunnera tinctoria

I would like to trade each of the packets for
one well-rooted double brug cutting, any color,
especially deep pink, peach, yellow, white.

I ordered these from Swallowtail Gardens this year,
received them a few days ago. I don't need that many
and want to trade.

Do you know the germination rate on these?

I'm not sure but I plan to put them to the test tomorrow. I've never grown this plant but was fascinated by it. I will give them a bath in H2O2 & ST and let you know how many are planted and how many come up. Hopefully, it won't take too long.

Badseed,
I checked the envelope and it said 14-60 days for germination.
I sure hope that the healthy soak speeds things up a bit. I will
know about the germination rate maybe in 14 days if I'm lucky!

Hope 43,
I don't know if it is profiled on the Plant Files or not. A month or two ago, I read some posts about the plant and I don't know which thread it was now. The information then said that it grew to 8-10 feet high and the leaves were from 4 to 8 feet across and it requires a LOT of water. It probably is ideal for more tropical climates than I have here, but I'm going to give it a try. I only have seeds thatI received from
Swallowtail Gardens last week. I think 100 seeds of the plain leaf cost $3.00 plus shipping. The frilly leafed ones cost $2.00 plus shipping for 50 seeds if I remember correctly. I thought some DG members might want to try growing the plant like I wanted to. If I can share my seeds for a trade, it would save buying them.
I hope I have good luck with my venture !!!

Louise

edited to correct price I paid for frilly ones.
