oh what a difference a year makes

Marble Hill, NY(Zone 6a)

This poor scraggly thing was my introduction to the joy of seeing spring bulbs. It somehow survived the severe neglect of the previous owners (I had to hack down 5 ft weeds in that spot) and it bloomed as if to say "don't give up on me yet"

After following the advice from DG -- letting the leaves die naturally and careful fertilizing -- a much happier plant is blooming this year.
