Dear Johanna,

Hope you will enjoy with these fascinating xeric broms.
I'm really crazy with them and have, now, nearly 40 different kind of Dyckias
and their relative ; Hechtia, Encholirium, Deuterocohnia, Puya, Orthophytum, etc. that more than 60 kinds.

I found that they are all very easy to take care of, they could tolerate 5 months damping rainfall, direct strong sunlight and as I've heard they could be also a really hardy species in cold climate area.

Here, some of them in my collection.

Hello Palmbob!!

Be sure you can find that glowing Dyckia in US. In fact, they are Dyckia 'Yellow Glow' or sometime in other list as Dyckia 'Moon Glow' or 'Sun Glow' or even 'Golden Glow'

It is a cultivated clone of Dyckia brevifolia. The plant in my collection came from 'Tropiflora' a well known tropical plant dealer in Florida State, also I've seen them in list of 'Dutch Vandervort Exotic Plants' in Ventura CA and I think 'Michael Bromeliads' in FL would have this nice Dyckia to offer, too.

But, the trick is, you have to give this plant a maximum sunlight to enhance the yellow glowing.

Thanks.. I will look for it. I think Vandervoort went out of business, so only places left in Florida? Other end of the country from me...
