Hello Group...I'm the new guy on the block here and wanted to say hello. I posted a few items on the "Garden Art" forum, but was told they were a better fit for this heading. Anyway, I make stuff out of steel reinforced concrete & cement. Mostly outdoor/garden items like tables, chairs, benches, birdbaths & houses, etc., etc...all in what is known as "Faux Bois". French for "False Wood" and also known as "El Trabajo Rustico" in Spanish. It is a nearly lost art form and much of it was executed by unknown local artisans from about 150 up to 50 years ago.
I am currently working on a book on the topic and would like to take this opportunity to repeat the invitation I posted on the Garden Art Forum...
If you know of any such work in your region or have seen any in your travels...please let me know about them. I am desperately trying to record as many of these works and give proper credit to the astisans who created them as possible. The wonderful rose arbor at the Huntington that Scooterbug posted is a prime example. I am working with them to record the history of those pieces as we speak. So please... if you have knowledge of any work that falls into this category...help me record it for posterity.
