If I were to transplant these seedlings into quart pots, how many seedlings should go to each pot? I don't want them to be cramped but would like the pot to be nice and full and just the right amount of seedlings so they can grow large enough to be used.....
Maybe quart pots are too small for this. I eventually will put them in containters that I haven't made yet LOL
thank you for any advice, Im really new at this but love the smell of herbs and want to put them in my hypertufa containers.
trillions of herb seedling, how many go to each quart pot
PS, I forgot to mention, there are also many many varieties of herb seedlings and I was also wanting to know if each type of herb required a different number of seedlings in a quart pot to make for a nice planting/presentation in the pot. Once this quart pot is full and looking good I will use the herbs to put into come hypertufa containers I haven't made yet.....
ie, would one blade of chives turn into a whole clump? and how long would that take.
Or should I put 6 or so single blades in a quart pot and let them grow into one another.
The same question goes for each herb. Maybe there is a book you could recommend , so far I haven't found anything on the internet...
THANK YOU!!!!

As for your herbs, a list of them would be helpful. Different herbs grow to different sizes and have different needs.
Am I right to assume your seeds have recently germinated and are still very small, and you want to bump them up to bigger containers until it is time to move them again into your hypertufa final containers? If so, you may not need quart-size pots for that purpose.
Care to elaborate a little more? Thanks.
Shoe.

Welcome to DG, tigerlilypup!
Check out the clump transplanting method I just posted, together with some other tips on starting from seed: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/589725/
I would suggest potting up your seedlings into 2 inch pots, and then once they have filled those pots with roots, then you can transplant into quarts (singly or maybe by 3's, depending on the herb in the pot) or into your new hypertuffa containers. Putting trillions of little seedlings with tiny root systems into a deep quart pot may be asking for trouble... when you water & get that potting mix nice & wet, the seedlings won't be able to take up the water very quickly, and they will sit in soggy cold soil, which they will hate.
Good luck & have fun! Looking forward to seeing you around this & other forums!
