I hope this does not sound to negative as this is a beautiful vine. Its just not suited for where I live as it was popping up all over the place.
I finally removed the last of this it, do not get it if you live where there is no frost !
Its' a woody vine that gets covered with beautiful orangeish red flowers that are supposed to attract hummingbirds. In Florida it is very invasive. My original vine was rapidly spreading around so I went on an eradication frenzy and removed all I found.
I collected seed from it so if you want it be the reply under mine and then you can offer excess if you want to as I'm sending you a pack of 100 or so seeds. I'm in the address exchange.

Almost forgot, the seeds are light .

CLOSED: Campsis radicans to first offer of a sase
This vine is invasive in any climate!
Come on now it's not as bad as kudzu! If you keep it on a single trellis or in a pot and pinch the seedpods off it could be a very nice Hummingbird feeding station.
It's also called Trumpetvine and has huge masses of beautiful orange red flowers with very tropical looking foliage. It at least is native to the U.S.
My problem was I planted it under an oak tree and liked where it was and procceded to take over the tree and then started sending babies all over.
Here is a link to info about it.

And it's still available to the first sase.
Ken,
If the campsis radicans seeds are still up for grabs, I'm game. I'm moving out onto some acreage in the country soon. There is hardly anything at all growing except some nasty thorny mesquite trees - I really have my work cut out for me to put out some flowers/shrubs/trees, etc. I love hummingbirds, so if they come as a result of the trumpet vine, I'm a happy camper!
I'll send out a sase if it's still available.
Thanks & happy gardening,
Debra
Yes It's still laying on the desk. I'm in the address exchange or you can dmail me if you need my address.
Ken
These seeds are light so a regular envelope will work fine for them.
