I look at them hanging there all pretty and green and wonder why they don't bloom. WHHHHHHHHHHHY don't they bloom?
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW Do You Get Them To Bloom?
makshi, in my experience, the key to getting them to bloom is patience and time. Eventually it'll happen, its just not ready to bloom yet, and won't bloom until it is, unfortunately. Most of mine don't bloom in their first (when they're planted as rooted cuttings) or second years (that's for growing), but the third year is proving to be the year for them to bloom. Only a very few have bloomed for me in their first or second year - h.multiflora, h.lacunosa, h.pubicalyx. Hope this helps!

I may not live long enough for them to bloom at this rate. Thanks for the information.
You can try misting them daily and use 1/4 strength bloom booster fertilizer (e.g 10-52-10) with every watering for a couple of weeks.
makshi, I forgot to mention that your hoyas must be rootbound in their pots to be able to bloom-this is why it will take them so long to bloom. Smaller pots are best for hoyas for this reason. I had a friend years ago that I gave a young hoya plant to. He planted it in a huge pot, despite what I told him. It finally bloomed in its 9th year....
Milan, what brand of bloom booster would you use? I can never figure them out in the store. Thanks.
Christine
Christine,
I usually use Miracle Gro Ultra Bloom
my hoya has bloomed reliably every fall, in spite of my neglect of it. It gets watered every now and then, and fed maybe once a year...... ;(
It's been in the same hanging planter in the main bathroom, in a northwest window year round for the past 10 years or so. I cut it back when it gets too big for it's vertical space.
good luck!
Sue
One good way to get them to bloom is to stress them like DrivenB...it works...on most. Others bloom in spite of ourselves!!!
Sue,
Sound good to me. Will see if this works. :)
