First Time Brug Grower

Wesley Chapel, FL(Zone 9a)

I have 5 of them that I'm about to plant - don't have names.

I'm in central Florida.

Sun or shade?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Probably a bit of both. Some morning sun if it gets too hot in the afternoon. I notice the ones I have in shade do not seem to bloom as much though they look fine. Maybe a Florida person will stop by.

No name ones are just as pretty!

Thanks Kell. Yes, the afternoon sun gets pretty brutal here in the summer. I'll see if I can arrange both sun and shade for them.

Brugs can really deflate in the summer heat even in the shade. But they seem to perk up in the cooler evening. During the night, their flowers are usually wide open calling out to moths and night time insects to pollinate them. That is why they have such great fragrance at night, a come hither trait.

So if you sit outside in the evening, one or a few by your porch or deck is so nice if you have some shade there. I love white in the evening, it glistens in the dark of the evening and the scent can be so enjoyable as you sit out.

Don't forget to post pics of them, Steve when they flower. We love to see everyones gardens!
