membership watching

seems to me every time i sign on there are a couple new canucks on the forum but when i do a member count we are only 107. we were 100 last thanksgiving. are they hiding somewhere i can't find them? madam librarian to the rescue, please

I saved this link in a dmail to myself so I could always find it. Of course I went and looked for it in my journal first. 172 subscribers at the moment. The difference between this total and the total you are seeing is peeps not entering their addresses correctly. It is very interesting to watch the list grow and change. Too many of the new subscribers never post.

I'm sure madame librarian will be along shortly.

There are obviously only a small number of subscribers who post. I checked thru the Alberta names once and did not recognize most of them - of course they might be posting on forums that I dont watch.
And there are 4,777 Cdn members/subscribers! probably never see most of them.

Considering that there is some turn over between member and subscriber status and some members have signed up more than once, the significance of those thousands takes on a different meaning. Since the site started, plenty of members have signed up just to make one comment in the watchdog, never to return again.

I'm sure there are some people who just like to read forums for the knowledge, but don't ever feel like replying as they don't think their opinion will count for much. Its a little sad, but I'm sure its true. I have a number of friends who frequent hobby forums, and will read and discuss entries amongst each other, but if you ask them if they post they always say no.
