got some goodies from Gloriag

got these lovely av's and streps from gloria...i didn't find the name on the one in the middle....it has very tiny leaves etc..take a look at both pics....blue mink av and apache bow..and av leaves etc

this is the one in the middle i can't find name...i asked gloria abvout it..i'm sure she'll respond.

Nice plants. How hard are the strep leaves to start? I have never had any of them. Are they started like the AV leaves?

lol..i'm sure everyone is going to tell you to ck the "sticky"....he he...these are already started plants however...she did send some leaves..

Diane Strep leaves are extremly easy to start. Babies grow fast and can bloom in most cases 3=4months from setting the leaves down.
There are a few ways to do them and they are in our second sticky with pictures and all. But I do mine the same way as my African violet leaves.
I like to use mostly a whole leaf or atleast 4-6 inches.
I fill solo cup, pot with soil-less mixture. I use 60 percent perlite. When I put it into the soil in the middle of the cup just a pinch is covered with soil. I water it threw real good. I then put it under lights in a window anywhere with my other leaves. It's very simple. Before I know it much faster than African violes. I have lots of Strep babies With Streps there are no crowns. One leaf is a plantlet. But I like mine full so I keep a bunch of babies together :))

oh allison...don't worry about me...gloria is the lovely lady that traded with me for another friend of hers...she's the one i gave your thread on packing...she did a great job and they came in perfect condition.

Bob Blue Mink has always been one of my favorites ! Sure is pretty. You got some really nice plants !
Can you pot a close up of the Strep please I can't make out the leaves .
I wonder which Blue Mink she sent you ?

Ok Thanks Bob ! Someone sent me Double trouble Strpe leaf . I think it was Spider. It has babies coming up Yippi. Streps are so much easier to progate and faster results getting babies !.

streps are really great..gloria sent...cherry pie...blue mars...and hen face....streps and the episcias are my favorites..

Bob you were say one had the neatest leaves second pic above...but leaves are inverted..and maybe about 1 to 1.5 inches ?? But I can't see them that's why I was wondering if you had closer picture please.
Cherry Pie was one of the first Streps I got two years ago and I gave them all away it was always my favorite.

I say this little plant need a bath, old spent foliage taken off re-poted in small pot and waych it from there.

allison..this is an unknown name gloria sent..but it's very nice...i spilled some soil over it...will have to clean it up...think it's much too big for a small pot...

i will transplant it tomorrow....we broke the heat record of 92 today and now that 30acre fire in melbourne about 10 miles from me....it was 2 weeks ago tomorrow that i almost lost my jungle to a fire...very scary...the winds are so heavy...it's like the Santa Ana's in so calif..

WOW you got hot. I think we were high 90's . Everything is so sry. Our neighbors and us water our lawns a few days a week. We are set up on private well water on timers by park owner just for watering lawns and flowers ... They say to keeps things watered. And if people throw out a cigarettes first fine is $ 100.00 and it goes up as high as jail time.

just terri bly dry allison...and very scary as people toss their cigs.

Bob, your plants from Gloria are beautiful! She sent a box of streps to me on Saturday. I can't wait to get them! I'll post pics when they arrive.
