Well, Christmas has been arrving early for many peeps in the AV forum and today it was my day. I have just received the biggest box from Begoniacrazii full of plants and AV leaves. Lots of my beloved geraniums as well. I am over the moon!!!
She is a wonderful peep and a very generous one.
Spider also got treats and many little Spider plants. He loves them!
I also got leaves from Planti, as part of our trade. Hers went out this morning so she should receive them on Friday.

These are my baby opossums. They are about 6 weeks old. I tube feed them. This means inserting a tube in their throat all the way to their stomach then injecting formula.

Oh their so sweet. SOOO cute. you are so kind and tender loving to take care of these babies. Your so smart. Do you put the feeding tube in yourself ? Do they need special formula to live ? Where do you get it ? The baby that is sick where do you get it's medicine. Fascinating. Does your Hubby help ?

This is the strep that I rescued from a garden center in the winter. It was the only one left so I thought that the flower must not be a beautiful one. Well, i was soooo wrong!

Violet, I am the one who inserts the tube everytime they eat. I learned how to do it. If you get it wrong, you can insert it to the lungs and they will drown to death. :O((
They have puppy formula. Esbilac. It is made specially for puppies but all wildlife has it apart from bunnies. They have kitten formula.
I get my supplies of syringes, feeding tubes (urethral catheter in real life), different feeds at a special rehhabilitation store. I have most surgical instruments and medical supplies from the course i did. Other rehabbers may provide medication as well as we have a network. One tin of Esbilac (700 grams) costs about $37!!!!!
No one helps me here. I do all on my own. I just sit by the computer for one minute and then it is time to feed someone. I have 25 squirrels and 5 opossums at the moment. The baby squirrel with pneumonia is getting better. People are finding lots and lots of under nourished babies at the moment. They are too weak so are brought here. I have to fatten them up and then release them when they are about 16 weeks old.

You should get it Friday ! Lorry too ! Nanna maybe she will get her's tomorrow. Well she has 3 boxes coming and I wanted to send her more but ran out of space. Mortez think I spelled it correct should get her box Friday too ! I keep sending them out one box at a time. Like one step at a time. And soon everyone will have lots of pretty plants :))

They eat around the clock every couple hours don't they ? I'm sure taking care of them is very rewarding :))
they eat every three hours with a break from midnight to 6 am.
Oh Thank goodness there is a break :)) By the time you feed them all you have to start all over again !

allison, I have been doing this work since last September. But in England I used to rehab everytime I found a baby or injured animal. I woul dhelp the local vet.
Last Fall I found a small baby squirrel while walking with Spider. I could not find any rehabber in my area so I decided to do the course and help to care for wildlife.

Allison, today is my one year anniversary. We arrived in the US on the 6th of April 2005.
I love it here. I love the weather, the food and the american peeps. In England it is very difficult to make friends.
I have not been back and do not want to. Here is home now and I don't miss there.
There are AVs in England but I had never seen the varieties there are here. I was into Geraniums there. :O))
