I also posted this in Garden Art, but wanted to be sure and share it with my TX buds. :-)
The Gardener's Prayer
My sentiments, exactly!
Oh, I LOVE it! That's great!
Did you write that, Mary? I could have sworn I saw your name at the bottom.
Mary Lee
That would be quite perfect, wouldn't it?
But that person forgot to ask about keeping the Bermuda out of the flower beds.
Josephine.
That is great!! LOL Thanks, Mary!
That is really good!
I luv it
Love it!! Maybe the next version will mention nut grass and mosquitos :-)
and fire ants....should be sent directly back to THEIR maker! LOL :)
Debbie
I second the nutgrass amendment--but at least nutgrass doesn't bite!
Debbie
Where on earth did you find that gem, Mary ? I want one!
LOL, I immediately started thinking of my own revisions, too! I didn't buy this (too expensive) but had to take the picture. I'm thinking of modifying the "prayer" to more closely fit what we pray for in TX, and maybe do this on wood or something.
I saw this at The Arbor Gate in Tomball. It wasn't there when I stopped by yesterday, they must have already sold them (they had several.)
Bump. This is so perfect!
Hey, there was an article recently about the guy who originally wrote this, Karel Capek: http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/2448/ He also invented the word "robot". Interesting guy. :-)
I just finished reading the article on the link Marylyn provided. If you have not done so yet, please take a break from your gardening chores and read this delightful essay. It's been quite awhile since I've enjoyed something this throroughly.
PS: After reading about the extraordinary life of the author of The Gardener's Prayer, I think we ought to track down the artist creating the garden art so they can replace "Unknown" with "Karel Capek". That would seem to be a fitting tribute to the man that has allowed us all to smile today.
