Getting Air Plants to Bloom

Hi Everyone! I'm new to this forum.

I have a few air plants and I've heard to get them to bloom they should be put in a bag with an apple slice for a few days. If I do this how long will it take for them to send the flower shoot?
And should they produce offsets after flowering?
