Kelly for your first time and all those leaves to take care of your an excellent Mom ! Your doing a good growing job .
Are your kids interested in them also ? Do they enjoy helping you and watching them grow !
Last Summer I donated good size plants to a Salvation Army Daycampe in Ohio. Pretty much low income and low buget. For their garden week I sent them 30 plants, I sent 30 white pots and 30 green pots . ( give the kids a choice !) and I sent gallon bags of soil-less mixture. I had kept the plants aside in hope this way they'd be a good size easier to handle and hopefuly some buds or and blooms. The kids painted their pot , planted their plants into their newly painted pots. They got to bring them home too :)) All the kids enjoyed them even up to some High School age.
I was so Happy to send them ! It was so sweet hoe much they enjoyed the plants and painting the pots , playing in the dirt re-potting !
I'm always reading about Hybridizers saying they started growing African violets when they were 9 years old with their Grandfather...and so on and always had a home full of plants ! Nice for the children too !

allison how sweet of you to do that for the daycamp! i know they will remember that forever! my youngest Kaylee ( just turned 3 in jan.) enjoys looking at them and carrying the cups over to the counter when i water and then carrying them back to their stand. Mallory my 8 year old daughter likes them as well and loves the baby that has popped up from 'Apache Blanket' ! she checks on it each day to see what it looks like as they are out for spring break this week. Kaylee has learned all of my houseplants names already! she walked around asking what each name was until she can now tell me! mallory enjoys the inside plants but loves the outdoor plants as well. mallory wants her own flower kit for her birthday with seeds and tools etc. but her birthday is in october so i may have to talk her into planting bulbs then. hunter is 9 and doesn't seem interested much in any of the plants except the cactus and succulents in the 10 gallon terrarium which we just made. mallory's favorite color is pink so when i get a leaf to make a pink baby i am going to let her have it for her room. she has a sunny window she can sit it in. i inherited my love for flowers from both my mother and father. my mother grew a.v.'s when i was a child but i just got into them thanks to all of you! my mother no longer grows a.v.s but i bet i could get her back into them lol :) my sister came over last week and saw all my leaves down and i assured her when i have babies i will share. my father is a landscaper so i need say more about him lol. i got my daylily love from my mother as well. she has tons of them at her home!!!!!!!! i really hope that my children will all love flowers as they are growing up and when they are grown. i have been into planting flowers and loving houseplants since i was about 19 or 20. i lost all my plants due to a move in feb. 05 and am trying to build back up. doing a good job due to d.g. members!!!!! i am 26 will be 27 in august and have no friends (other than my d.g. friends) that are into flowers and that is sad to me. i love d.g. because i have friends here that share my love for plants and flowers!

Kelly,

You've certainly found the right place for people who love plants and flowers!! It's wonderful that your daughters are already interested, too.
