'Neon' sedum to trade

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

I will be taking cuttings this week. Will send them out when they are well-rooted. This usually takes 3-4 wks. I like to send them out in good shape so they will thrive.
I am looking for FRAGRANT perennials- shrubs, bulbs, trees, vines, etc... that will grow in zone 7b.

This is what the sedum looks like: http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/54689/

Elizabethton, TN(Zone 7a)

I would love some of your sedum, but I don't know what I have that you might like (which would be good for zone 7.) I have Stokes Aster - http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/15/index.html. I can root some rose "The Fairy" if you want to wait a bit - http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/2863/index.html. I have Bengal Tiger aka Pretoria canna if you don't mind digging in fall - http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/3303/. Let me know if any of these are at all tempting.

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Killer,
thanks for the offer but I am only looking for fragrant plants. The only rose I want at this time is Don Juan.

Thanks again!

Renton, WA(Zone 7a)

Stoke's Aster is fragrant, but I completely understand if you don't want any.

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Killer,
I just don't have any luck growing asters- I should have mentioned that- sorry. Since they never grow for me to blooming stage I had no idea it was fragrant.
Deb

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

veeja,
I would love to trade for your Tom Pouce lily and your variegated Iris pallida. You would be receiving several sedum plants in the trade. I usually send 4 or 5.

Elizabethton, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh heh, this isn't an "Aster". Its "Stokesia", a not-aster-that-looks-like-one. I can't grow asters either. Butterflies love them, and you toss them at the ground in the general direction of a hole and stomp them in. If you feel really like over-doing it, you water them. Then they grow and bloom. Full sun, need good drainage. Drought tolerant. Not terribly fragrant, I have to admit, but always listed in the "fragrant" plants so I figure I'm just spoiled with brugs and plumeria and gardenias and ginger, so I'm picky about "fragrant". But again, no worries if you don't want. Its just all I had that I thought you might want.

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

I did just now look it up in the PF and I was wondering if yours is the blue one? Can you describe the fragrance? Also do you find it to be invasive?

Sorry for all the Q's.
Deb

Mine is the blue-purple one, more blue than purple and a fairly rich color. They don't spread but they do reseed. The seeds don't go far. I have them in a little patch and yank the ones that try to stray. The fragrance is light and sweet, not very sweet but not spicy either. More herb-like sweet... I'm a terrible hand at describing smells, sorry - and the smell seems to me to come and go, being a little stronger at some times than others. It will not be perfuming your yard. OTOH like I said the butterflies love it.

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

OK I'll give it a try. I'd like to trade with you then- LOL!

Elizabethton, TN(Zone 7a)

Great!!!
...but sheesh I forgot I have a lotus too, they're fragrant. It would be an Adventrue in Shipping for me though, I've never shipped a lotus. And ginger which would die in winter in your area, but you could dig... Are you sure you don't want me to toss in a canna?

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Dont think I could grow a lotus- LOL! Actually ginger does survive here- I'd take you up on that but I just got some.
What the hay- toss in a Bengal b/c it's pretty- LOL!

I just made the PO run today so I could mail them out on Friday when I go back to the PO. Is that OK?

Elizabethton, TN(Zone 7a)

That's fine, I'm not sure when I can get to the PO but I will be sure to post here or DMail you when I do. I work during the day, so it may be Saturday - will that be ok with you?

I have variegated shell ginger, what kind do you have?

http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/55244/

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Killer,
You'll have to forgive me but today I seem to have mis-placed my mind. I have about 3 plant trades going on right now- lol!

As I stated in my OP, the sedum will have to root for about a month[sometimes takes less] before I send them out. I'm just not comfortable sending cuttings w/o roots. I have rec'd cuttings before and they always died or were dead when I got them. I want to make sure these thrive for you. Is the time-frame OK for you? Also, you can wait to send yours to me as well.

As for the ginger, all I know is that it's the white butterfly type. This yr will be my first time growing it. I am soo excited as I have always heard they are fabulously fragrant!!

Elizabethton, TN(Zone 7a)

Ah, I have those also right outside my bedroom window, but with the drought they're in decline. They smell fabulous. Heady and sweet. Those *will* perfume your yard. The variegated smell the same but have the two-tone leaves.

Send whenever - just let me know if Saturday is ok for me to send the Stokesia and canna - I don't want them to arrive when you're not ready. It wont matter for the canna (they can sit in a paper bag for weeks) but the stokesia will need to be planted soon.

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

You can send them at your convenience and thanks so much for the trade! You're an excellent salesperson, BTW!!
My info is back in the addy xchange.

I am at this moment making a list of my trades. If you don't hear back from me in about 3 wks, give me a gentle nudge- lol!

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

killerchihuaha, chantell, gloriag and veeja3:

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

killer,
got your dmail.

Ok all.... I just checked them and they are not ready -sorry! I will check again in a week- next Sat. I want to get these shipped before it gets too hot- lol!

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Tried to dmail everyone tonight but apparently the dmail is not working tonight. Will try to dmail later as I don't think all my traders are reading this thread.

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Yeah...what's up with the dmails? Grrrr!! Did you get my dmail earlier?

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Chantell,
Got your dmail and I've tried about a gazillion times to dmail you back- lol!

I have plenty of the sedum- theyre just taking their sweet time about rooting. Hopefully they will be ready next week to mail out.

You had asked me about what I'm looking for- I'd love to get a sedum called 'Dragon's Blood'. Also, I have wanted hens and chicks forever. I'm prob. the only person on the planet to never grow this plant!

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

I don't have the dragon's blood...probably the only one who doesn't...would be happy to send some of the hens and chicks though :) Glad to hear someone else is having a problem w/the dmail...I've been trying to get an email to someone a gazillion times...though my computer had issues...LOL

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Chantell,
Oh goody- it's a deal!
