JBob, Is your purple bleeding heart vine perhaps a purple variation of Clerodendrum thomsoniae?

I already have the white flowered version, but could trade you some Clematis virginiana (Virgin's Bower, Sweet Autumn Clematis - wild flower) for some of the purple bleeding heart vine. I'm not sure C. virginiana will grow in your tropical area though -- I may be at the limit of its southern growth in Zone 8b/9a.
