Wonder if this really works

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I was reading today about AVs online and this one lady told what she does with her suckers. I am wondering if anyone else has heard this or tried it. She said

Quoting:
What I find works the best for me, is to place the suckers into a domed container, lined with moist New Zealand Spaghnum Moss. Roots form quickly in this sterile medium, and then can be potted up into its own pot very soon, and put onto a wick, if required.
Does anyone have any opinions as to how this might work, or will it work?

I used Zealand Spaghnum Moss a little when it was given to me free by a vendor and they said they root leaves in it. If it works good for you it's good but I don't think I'd get into it sense what I'm using works well and is simple .

long fibre sphagnum works great for rooting many things. It's a common potting medium for orchids as well. I get mine from calwesttropical.com - great quality.

Wow, I never knew that. I have a bag of it around here somewhere. I might try one just as an experiment.

Thanks

well dollar weed is Malvella leprosa...and one of the worse invasive weeds in florida....lol...it loves water..and some places sell it as an aquatic plant...we can't get rid of it....i can send about an acre for free.

Oh my no way it's roots are like thick strong white rope and it kills everything. Down the street we were always working on getting rid of it here we don't have it but it's a nightmare. Dollar weed should be on a Horror movie. lol

Kelly, oh, gosh, you do *not* want this! I can't believe Bob would even tease about this plant, LOL! I know he didn't think he'd get any takers! It was the hardest thing to get rid of in my landlady's gardens in GA... It'll grow in dry, sandy soil, and it'll grow completely submerged in water... The roots break off when you try to pull it up, and any tiny little remaining scrap turns into a new infestation overnight!

The leaves of dollarweed look like little round lily pads, about the size of a silver dollar... I think the leaf shape is a little like a nasturtium, but the growth habit is low & tangled.

i was just wondering because bob says it loves water. i do not want it if it is invasive that bad lol.

Kelly it's a weed. people call out the super duper weed killers for it.
It's the worst nightmare anyone can have growing in their yard. RUN Fast away from it. lol
