bougainvillea in full bloom
Yes, and you, too!
So pretty! I've always wanted bougainvillea but am in the wrong zone. We have hot summers usually--do you think I might be able to try it as a summer annual? I'm in NC zone 7. Love yours:)
Mine started blooming in late January. This is really the place for them either but I have a couple of places where I have a microclimate.
Lisa,
I bought one this year from HD.....I'm sure you saw them since they have millions of them. I bought one on a trellis and want to plant it. What's your suggestion as to where? I can put it on the SW side or do you like SE better. I really wanted to put it in another section, but that's on the N/NE side and I don't think that's a good idea. I still hope that invitation to visit your garden is open!

Barbara , mine is southwest facing. Yep, you are welcome over as soon as I get my back yard garden decent for the year.
Barbara,
Just a little reminder when you plant your bougie. Try and not disturb the roots. Once you mess with them, plants have a hard time recovering. Plus, bougies like a little bit of shade and a little bit of water til they are established.
Enjoy

Thanks! It's now planted on the SW side if the house. I had remembered that about their roots and I just hope it's ok. It was a devil to get that thing out of the pot. I snipped the plastic all around so that I could ease it out, but found the small wooden trellis was even stapled to the plastic pot! Kept cutting away and tried to be as gentle as possible. We'll see what happens.
