O.K. what does it take to get this hoya to bloom? I purchased a cutting from Kartuz about 4 years ago. It has really grown alot and put on 6 peduncles. However It has never bloomed for me. It gets filtered afternoon sun for about 2 hours. I would really like to get it to bloom. Any ideas?
H. fungii
Tami well I guess I can't tell you to send it to Arizona, since it's already here:-). Mine has bloomed and it's not because of anything I did. It's in the greenhouse and receives some filtered sun, not a lot. Sorry I can't give you more tips.
Blessings,
Awanda
Try growing it drier. Also goose it with some bloom fertilizer...stress it a bit...call it names? Sing to it?
Thanks for the tips/advice. I will try and keep it on the dry side, and hit it with some blooming food. If I sang to them, they would croak !!!!!!
I got what I have labeled as H. fungii from Logees a few years ago. Mine even has a seed pod right now. It's always been a good grower and bloomer for me, but then I live in a sub-tropical climate, and grow outdoors 8-9 months of the year.
I have allowed mine to get pretty dry, mostly through neglect. Have also let it get some direct sun.
How the heck do you get H. diversifolia to bloom?
Ignore it. Let it dry out before watering. Diversifolia is a weed...treat it as such!
If the truth be known...hoyas bloom for many reasons: one being it is the season and the other is out of survival mode...so if you stress it, you have more luck!!! Many hoyas I have bloom just before I notice they are failing...and I rush to recoop. Others just bounce along no problem.

Well then, if that is the case, no one gets anymore water around here. Susan when you say dry, how dry are you talking about? Like bone dry for awhile? Yes I am guily of doing that.. Oh and I think it is my diversifolia.... And in the sun to boot. O.K. I am going to start my neglect program today. I just had a new surge of freedom come over me.....
Serious how dry?
Awanda do you keep yours dry? Ah but it's in the greenhouse with humidity. Hmmmm

I don't keep my hoyas too dry... they bloom anyway! However, I have heard of one lady that waters very seldom and they are still bugfree and bloom a lot. I think BOTH ways work!
