Anyone out there have a rooted cutting of coconut geranium that I could beg, borrow or steal? Even unrooted ones, if you have them. Maybe I could root them. I could trade daylilies, cannas or widows tears or SASE if any kind soul would help me out. Thanks.
CLOSED: coconut geranium
does it have a scent like a cocoanut?
Very much so Bob. It's wonderful!
I had no luck getting or rooting cuttings from my 'Coconut' SG last year... it has a different growth habit from the other pelargoniums. Mine perished, but I plan to start more of them from seed... Another DGer shared seeds last year, and I finally managed to harvest a few seeds of my own, too. Dmail me if you're interested, and we'll work something out!
Bob, I thought the scent was faint but distinctive. The leaves were lovely, almost like a nasturtium (sort of lilypad shaped)... I'm at the wrong computer to post a photo, sorry.
Hi Critterologist. Love your name by the way. Hmm. Well I'm too impatient to have one to grow it from seed so I think I'll just find one online somewhere and order me one. Thanks for the offer though.
I have seeds if you're interested..LMK
i really like scented geraniums....and when i lived in Mo i found them easy to propagate...haven't tried any here....I used to order from a woman in tenn who did nothing but grow geraniums...she did starter plants etc....if anyone knows who she is...she had a wide assortment.
I know Sandy Mush Herb Nursery has a huge selection of scented geraniums, so they might be a place to check. I got mine from DeBaggio Herbs in VA, but unfortunately they do not ship. If I'm successful with the seeds, hopefully I'll have extras... Bob, I added a note to my trade tracker to find an SG or two for our trade. :-)
