Epis have become another passion!!! You guys are worse than the Hoya Forum!!! I am really "getting into" epis and really can't tell the differences between them and other orchid cactus...but love them anyway. They are easy to stick in trees and forget about until they bloom!!! Is there a link you can recommend to a real newbie to tell the differences between epis, rhipsalis and all the others?

Well....I am hooked!!!
Here's one Carol.

Carol, Here's a great link for pictures and information: http://www.ecology.org/tropicals/

Carol, that is a great site for pictures and information, but I have also noticed that their per cutting prices are a little high. Your best bet is to find someone to trade with for Epi hybrid cuttings and check around for the species. I got a few species for a few dollars at Glasshouse Works: http://www.glasshouseworks.com/succ-de.html and you might also check Epi's by Pat: http://www.epies.net/ I was also surpised to find three Epi species in hanging baskets at my local Home Depot.
Glad you got some answers, Carol! I know less about Epies than I do about hoyas so I wasn't going to be able to offer much help. The one thing I've learned on here is the difference between "Christmas Cactus" and "Easter Cactus" - - The first has "teeth" on the leaves, the later has more rounded leaves. (Ain't that right folks?! I thiiiiiink that's correct - - somebody?)
You may be able to find someone on here that has some Epie cuttings that would trade for Hoyas (wink wink!) =0)
Hmmmm, and I wonder whom I could trade with...? :>)
Just did a big trade with PlumeriaGod in Fl. - Randy sent me about 25 cuttings...and I am sending him a box of cuttings... I think I will wait and see what happens to them and learn more about that whole family(ies)...I have a ZigZag (gotta learn these names!!!) growing up a tree and it has never bloomed...I wonder what I should do...lots of learning! But the epis I stick up in trees just love it!!!!
