I want to grow both. Problem is, I have a small city yard. I know that sweet peas are toxic. Do I need to worry about cross-pollination? How close can I plant the two? I currently have them as far apart as possible, which is on opposite sides of the house. Or should I just choose one or the other?

you mean the flower sweet pea, right, and not the edible-pod snap pea?
They are two completely different plants. Cross pollination is not an issue. Do not worry about it.
