I recently had a problem with Mites.. after spraying EVERYTHING with Neem, I took Kell's advice and used 2 in 1 to follow up. I tried my best to "guesstimate" how much to use so I didn't burn any leaves especially on the seedlings... but I did burn a very few.
My 13yr old DS is always quoting commercials. One of his favorites is the Scope mouthwash commercial where the old man tells the boy it has to burn to work...
So when I was surveying the damage on the seedlings.. I said "Uh Oh, I see I did burn a couple of leaves" My son standing there watching me says in a rusty voice... "Oh Well....The burn says it's working!" I cracked up.
It's not near as funny in text as it was then.. but I thought it may crack a smile to brighten someone's day.

Joyce,
I can just imagine!! I am guessing you did get rid of the mites :-)
Sharon
I sure hope so.
I guess it was a "ya had to a been there" things.. LOL
LOL Joyce. Sounds like he knew those mites could'nt have survived the burning.
Oh Joyce, I am glad it was not deadly. That stuff can be dangerous esp to plants in pots. Your son sounds to smart for his own good. LOL
So did the mites die??? I sure hope so. I hate them so much.
LOL Sometimes his remarks are so funny.. He is a comedian and doesn't know it. LOL
Anyway.. I'm not sure if the mites are totally gone yet.. Several are getting good straight clean new growth, but some are not.. or the new leaves were so distorted while they were so tiny, they didn't get a chance to recover yet.
I only had a couple of plants with any webbing... most of the problem has been brown tips of new growth.. bumpy curly or twisted leaves... I hate the looks of the distorted leaves.. it breaks my heart after all the hard work to get growth on them!
Am I still doing the right thing? I am still spraying with Neem if I see a speck of anything on any stem or leaf. :-)
How often? I usually only have to spray twice at most though on occasion I will go back and just do the new growth esp with broad mites. If you are having to do it lots, either you are not getting all the surfaces for Neem has to cover the bug to kill it, or it is perhaps not mites. Though as I recall, the reason I suggested you use disulfoton as a chaser was because you had such a bad infestation and it is hard to cover lots of plants totally with Neem. So the 1, 2 punch should have knocked them out. .
Can you post a pic of the deformed leaves? I wonder if you have broad mites. Though Neem is great for those too. I hate broad mites more than any other kind. They make me nuts they spread so fast.
