Dog + goat = quiet!

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Last year, our neighbor acquired a black laborador that barked up a storm at all hours of the day and night. It barked for no apparent reason whether or not the owner was home. The dog was in a roomy cage for awhile then was moved to a small outdoor landing that was attached to the home. The dog continued to bark and the owner seemed oblivious to the noise. It was situated outside of my bedroom window and would wake me in the middle of the night. The only time it didn't bark was when the the dog was allowed to roam outside the enclosure with the owner, a rare event indeed. Last week, the owner installed fencing and moved the dog from the landing to the new enclosure. Then he put a young goat into the enclosure with the dog and, lo and behold, the dog quit barking!!!! The only time he barks now is if someone passes by the property.
