CLOSED: Lipstick Plant & Hoyas (vines) Needs A Haircut

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Obviously my Lipstick Plant (Aeschynanthus radicans) needs a good haircut.
I would like to offer 8-10 nice size cuttings for something I don't have. I have never been able to root anything so would love something rooted if possible.
Would like to trade soon as this pretty girl is taking up too much space.
Here are pictures of the flowers:

Could also offer a couple cuttings of both Sheperdii and Kentiana Hoyas. These would be unleafed vines needing to be
rooted. Hoyas send out the vines first and leaves later and both of my large plants have been traded out but need to have haircuts before being packed for shipping.

just wanted to say wow i love the beads on those hanging baskets! did you make those?

Hello Kelly,

I thank you so very much. Yes, I did make them. I couldn't find a plant hanger that I liked and didn't care much for the Macrame look so I started making beaded ones. Each one is different. Some have glow in the dark beads so that when I put them out this summer they will glow in the woods. Others have windchimes at the bottom. I enjoy making them and have 11 of them hanging in my house.

Thank you again for the compliment, it made my day!

Kim

What are you looking for, Kim? I'd like some of all three if we can work something out.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

You know, I don't really know what I'm looking for *lol*. I do know I would like something that has roots and flowers. It could be another houseplant (ssshhhh don't tell hubby) or even a perennial that would survive zone 5. I'm pretty easy. I traded the larger hoyas for some Thai Hybrid Crown of Thorns which I can't wait to receive as the hoyas just don't seem to like it here in Maine. They grow like weeds but never flower. I want things that I can enjoy the flowers of.

Kim

Hmmm, I have probably got some houseplants to trade you. Let me go take a look and I'll come back and let you know what I've got. :o)

Shenandoah Valley, VA(Zone 6b)

I am interested in trading, Kim. Please check your D-mail!

I dmailed you my list. :o)

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I have replied to everyone who D-Mailed me and am happy to say that all of the cuttings have been adopted and will be going to live in a greenhouse where I'm sure they will be happy.

Thank you all for your interest.

Kim....if you can, *please* take photos of those plant hangers made with glow-in-the-dark beads, *while* hanging in the woods this summer!
I'd *love* to see that!!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

OK Nan, I will.
I have a post in the houseplant forum called "WOOO HOOO Who Let The Plants Out" which shows my shepard hanger with 4 of them. The beads are neat. They absorb the light all day and glow at night. I have them in the ones in my bedroom.

Thank you again Nan,
Kim

Kim, I seen the 1st pictures and went to google how to make the beaded plant hangers, I come up with nothing... do you have a pattern you go by and if you do, do you mind sharing it, those are just to cute to not share...lol

Thanks,

Char

Hello Char,

Thank you so much for your kind words.
Actually, I didn't have a pattern. I made it up. I had one of those ugly ones from Wal-Mart and took my 2 strands of 15 pound fishing line and just started following it's design. It's so hard to explain in words. I wish you could be here in person and we could make one together *lol*. It's really a visual/hands on kind of project. I would suggest "doing your own thing". I do have a pattern for one but it was waaay to fancy for me to be able to follow the pattern as I'm not really a beader and couldn't follow the directions. I needed something simple and basic *lol*. I know that isn't much help and I do apologize but that is truly what I did and each one comes out differently so I don't have a set pattern to offer you.

Sincerely,
Kim

Those really are neat, Kim. I'm going to try it, too- I wonder where I put all my beads....

Kim,

I was wondering if you could do me a BIG BIG favor...is there anyway you can take picture of one of those, you can even leave the plant in it, if it is to hard to take out....I have so many beads here and I just LOVE those....I was telling my mom about it last night...and she is the creative kind....if she cant find anything like what she likes...she ill make it, just like you...unlike me i need a pic...I will print the pic out and once i get the hang of it, i can make my own design....

I thank you in advance, but if you cant do it, I understand...

Thanks,

Char,

They are EXTREMELY hard to photograph and please believe me when I tell you that pictures just don't do them justice. They are one of those things that need to be seen in real life to be appreciated.

Here is my site with some of my first ones on it, I hope this will help your mom. I think it will because it's closeups of various parts of the hangers.

At the bottom of this page is a link to some of my crochet "kreations" if she's interested in checking them out.

If she needs any help, just let me know and I will try to walk her through it.

Kim,

Thanks so much for the website...i know clue you had one up...that will work wonderfully...really the only problem i can see me having is with that part that is in pic #10 on the left hand side in the butterfly dish, which btw is georgous, but i think once i get past that i may be abe to do it.

A wonderful website...i attempted to do one a few years ago...but I kept getting interupted from the kids and hubby, i decided not to do it now...but I may attepmt it again since they are alittle older.

Thanks so much for the inspiration you given me to do a some creative things.

You're welcome and I wish you the best of luck. Be sure to post pictures of your first one.
Here's a hint. Start with 8 strands of 15 pound fishing line (4 sections of 2 strands to start) and then when you get to the holder part you will need to bead the 8 strands separately to make the "bowl" for the pot to sit in and then go back to 4 sections of 2 strands for the underside. The bottom tassels are beaded on individual strands. Did I confuse you more? I hope not.

Good luck to you,
Kim

Kelly, you are just wonderful! Everywhere I go there you are....I LOVE it!
The applets were free from spending MANY hours searching the web for free for personal use ones.
Thank you so much for the wonderful compliments, you are a real sweetie!
