Some early Rock Garden pics......

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8b)

We had a freakishly wet, cold, dreary Feb. and March - I lost many a plant in my rock garden - some simply drowned - others just limped along, and finally gave in to a miserable early spring.... :-(

But some things are popping up, and soldiering on.....here are a few pics that warmed my heart, and made me long for some real spring weather....

One of the few plants that look good right now....Euphorbia amygloides 'Raven' - although the tag has this name on it....I am totally unsure of it's accuracy! Any ideas of its true name??

One of my favorite small Daffodils....'Tete-a-tete' , a lovely, small, early bloomer.....I plant them all over!

......and a couple other bulbs......Hyacinth and Chiondroxia forbesii 'Giant blue'.....I really like the purple and blue combo. Not subtle, but pretty to me.. :-)

Jamie,

Lovely pic's - thank you for sharing them!

I guess this means you've got room for new plants? (Just looking for the silver lining for your dark cloud/
rainy Feb!)

Great photos, Jamie. I'm amazed anything's blooming after all of that rain, and I'm amazed your Lewisia survived outside. I kept all of mine under an overhang all winter and they still got too wet. If it ever stops raining long enough to take pictures, I'll take a few. I noticed a few blooms on my last dash through the garden to pick up broken branches. What hideous weather we're having on this coast this year!

Oh how you make me long for spring...I still have 5 feet of snow in my garden! I expectmy snowdrops won't be open until mid-May, let alone any alpines. I did get to an alpine conference in early March and picked up some gems. They are all in the basement window awaiting moving to the coldframe which is still under 4 feet of snow. This is my primula villosa which couldn't wait.

What a beautiful bright color it is, Todd.

Love the pictures Jamie and Todd. I'm still waiting for any significant bloom here in Utah, so your bright, cheery flowers are great.

Tammy, love that positive spin on losing a plant. I'll have to remember that as I survey this years losses.
