I have a large back yard, but our swimming pool takes up most of the space. I bought a large whiskey barrell and some pond liner .I don't know what to buy for container ponds.Is that even a good idea to start one? How do you plant in a water container? How do you keep out algae and mosquitoes?

You could put LA iris in it for a tall plant or umbrella papyrus. Water lettuce or water fern for cover or hycinths. A few small feeder goldfish or feeder guppies will keep the mosquitos out.
