I just bought 5 optimara's at Walmart for some of my co-workers so they stop trying to sneak off with mine. LOL
Anyway, I'm sitting here on the Optimara ID page trying to ID them when I happened to notice the tags now have the variety names on them. I don't know when they started they but it's great.
I got:
Maui, Jamaica, Barbados, Maine & one missing a tag. I'll have to back to Walmart and see if there are more like it to see if they have a tag.
Jan...
Walmart Optimaras with names
I hope others send emails to them about naming the plants. I did. I told them they had a good product and it would be great if they would put the name on the plants.

Pictures ! please !
Wouldn't you know Maine is the one I didn't bring to work this am. LOL
I'll check when I get home tonight. I love the white edges on the 2.
They look so nice on my desk that my co-workers might have to continue to admire them from afar. Naturally, they all need a leaf or 2 trimmed off this am and since you certainly don't want to waste them,
I potted them up in some starter soil and 3 oz cups I just happened to keep at work for "emergencies".
Allison,
I know you have plenty to keep you busy but I'll be happy to pick some up for you if you ever want any.
For $1.94 you can't go wrong.

WOW Thanks I'd mostly like leaves as I don't have room right now to Isolate the larger plants and have trades and orders coming in to isolate . It's so hard I love them all. That's why I buy them all or leaves and grow them to give to others :)) I can't keep them but I can share them :))
There is not one I don't like. Their all pretty ! Optimaras leaves are exppensive too and only two places sell them and they don't have them all. I am glad to see BloomLovers opened and they have a girl leaf one I've been wanting so I will buy that leaf ! I wish I could have all the girl leaves and the Littles. I sent some Optimara States out to people that live in those States. And I sent Kenton a small baby that he grew to bloom way so pretty ! of ' Optimara Optimara Millennia (8965) 01/31/2001 (Holtkamp) Single white sticktite/purple-red striped lower petals. Medium-dark green, plain, pointed, glossy, hairy/red back. Standard'
All the leaves I grew I bought on Ebay or secret trades. So I am happy to get any leaves I can :))
Thanks !
I've had some requests so I will go back and get whatever they have left that is named. I compared the plants to the websites and the names appear to be accurate. I'll let everyone know what I was able to get after I put some aside for requests I have already and if anyone wants to reimburse me, I'll be happy to ship them out.
Jan...
my wal-mart had a huge still wrapped shipment today but i looked through them and none were named and i don't think they were optimaras. the are 1.94 but i did resist. i wish my wal-mart would get some named ones.
Kelly
Last time I was in Walmart they had Optimaras, but not named ones. May have to make another trip.
Allison,
The "Maine" Tag says:

"Optimara is Registered U>S> Tradesmark No. 1075172
"Maine" U.S. Plant Patent No. 5021.
According to their website, patent 5021 is for AVSA Reg #6568

Nice bunch of plants ! Take some pictures :)) Are they blooming ?
The Degas I have does not have a number. It says patent pending. I'll take individual pictures tonight.
Those plants are very healthy looking. I am so happy for you to have a store that takes good care of the plants they receive.
Actually, they tend to overwater them. They fill the trays with water and then just leave them sit in it. They have one girl who works there that knows what she's doing and she says she has told them over & over not to water them on her day off but they always do. I found a dry tray Sunday and moved a bunch of them to that tray where they could drain.
You and the AV Angel!!
Beautiful Plant Jan ! Wonderful Joy to find them ! I know if I went to the store and saw them I'd buy them all too :))
Enjoy !
