Plumeria in Florida

Wesley Chapel, FL(Zone 9a)

Somebody is sending me one, doesn't know the name.

Sun or shade?

It's hot here in the summer!

SUNSUNSUN
Plumies love Florida and the more sun the better. I have over 100 varieties and most are in full sun. You do need to feed them pretty heavily in order to promote blooms.
Post a picture when you get it!!

I've got lots and lots of sun to give them, but I have another question.......can I plant them in the ground here in the FL Panhandle (zone 8B) on the coast? Would I be better to leave them in their pots and plant the pots so I can bring them in during the winter? Also, what's your suggestion for soil mix, watering, etc.? Thanks!
Barbara

In your zone you will not be able to leave them in the ground in the winter, so you can opt to plant them and dig them up each year (people in Houston Texas do this) or plunge the pots in the ground. The last method is easier, of course but they are happier when they can spread their roots a bit more so putting them in the ground will provide better growth.
Any well-draining soil is good (I mix Lowe's Jungle Growth with about 1/3 perlite) and water lightly unless they tell you they are thirsty by droopy leaves.
