CLOSED: Help me help a 72 year old lady with a plant wish list

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

She's been looking for this plant "Aluminum plant" I use to have it but no longer, I'd like to trade for some cuttings or rooted cuttings, enough to fill a 4 in pot or so. I have tons I can trade for it. It will be a gift for her when I receive it from you.

Thanks in advance

Kathy, LMK if you don't find somebody with tons of cuttings to root.... This plant pops up pretty often at my favorite LGS, and I'm sure I can find a nice pot of it for her.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hello,

You might check the Plant Files for this particular plant, then email
the persons who list having grown it. Just a thought. :-)

Good luck in your search. What a kind gesture!

HI, I don't have it, but can look locally-does it have another name?
Is there anything else she would like?

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

sorry, posted twice

I'm not sure if it has another name,

This is all she's wanting, I pretty much keep her plant happy, but she saw a picture of this plant inthe paper and wanted some of it. I told her I could get it for her LOL

Thanks Critter, I'll let you know if I don't find any, I'd like to get some pretty soon for her.

OH yeah, This is a lady at my church, that I cook for. I don't have to cook for her, but one more plate isn't going to hurt and she doesn't like to cook, and eats the wrong kinds of foods, so I've decided to include her in my meals. She's very grateful to me, she's kind of like a second mom to me.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Kathy,

That is so good of you to cook for her. It is nice to have someone care about you.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

That IS cool. As you said, it's easy enough to make one more plate... but not many folks would think of it. :-)

In case I lose track of this thead, please Dmail me if you want me to check for the plant at my local nursery. I know they've had it there in the past, as I bought some from them a couple of years ago... unfortunately, it struggled a while in my mixed hanging basket & then gave up.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Kathy, this is so nice of you!

Unfortunately I don't have this plant, either (they're known for being short-lived) but if I did it would be yours!

I'll look around too and watch this thread.

When you find it....take cuttings once in a while (they root pretty easily) so that you can keep rejuvenating your friend's plant.

When my father passed away, I brought my mom our left-overs every night, too, as she wasn't eating right and found it very difficult to cook for one person!

Lafayette, IN(Zone 5a)

Kathy,
I have a whole plant that I could send. I will need to down size my plants and that is one that will have to go. Let me know if you want me to send it to you.

Deb

Yay, Deb!!

Lafayette, IN(Zone 5a)

Also, I really don't need anything in return.....not even postage. I'm just tickled to be able to send it to someone that really wants it! I have intentions of posting others at a later date, so stay tuned everyone!

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

OH wow! Your kidding, I don't know what to say, That's fantastic Deb. Thank you so much. She will be so thrilled.

I would love to have it.

Critter, No need to go to the nursery, Sweet DEB is gonna take care of me LOL

Thanks so much

my addy is in the addy exchange, I would love to cover shipping though.

I don't expect it for free for sure Deb.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Great news! That'll be much nicer than a little starter pot from my LGS... Thanks, Deb!

Lafayette, IN(Zone 5a)

No to the shipping....I just want it to go to someone that wants it and it would be worth the shipping just to know that.

Deb

Here is a pic of the plant in a pot. I will get it boxed up and ready to mail out, but it won't go out until Wednesday. I'm so happy it will have a good home!

WOW! That's a nice plant Deb. I can't thank you enough. shake that excess dirt off so it's not too costly to ship.

It was so nice to stumble on this thread and read it.....This is what Dave's Garden is all about.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I have to agree. I loved following this thread also. Although I didn't have the plant, it's what is behind the meaning of this thread that touched my heart. Not only the preparing her a plate at mealtime but the gracious sharing of plants among people who love and cherish one another. Gardener's have to be the most loving, caring people on the face of the earth and when they gather to help one another, there can be no better!

So nice of you to share Iris and I'm so happy Miss Norma will get her plant!

Wow how nice of you to give her that plant...that is just special and extremely nice of you and her neighbor will remember this plant for alot time and it will mean something to her..and Kathy you are a angel for what you do for her, somtimes it is the littlest thing that people do to make all the difference in the world to that person.

And I just love that plant so if anyone know where to get one at, Please let me know :o)

You're going to have one happy friend, Kathy!

Hey you two...one good deed begets another!

Deb, that is so very kind of you. :) I agree that DG is the absolute best place in the world. There are so many kind people here. I have seen so many wonderful things and made so many wonderful friends. Cathy you are a great friend. This really warmed my heart to read. :-)
