A Huge Sigh Of Relief!

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Whew! .. I am delighted to report that all of my Brugmansia made it. All 7 of the ones in the ground are putting out strong and vigorous shoots. I was really worried there for awhile since they got knocked down 3 times by frost. They must have an excellent root system.

I have potted up all of my cuttings and will resume the trade in a few weeks.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Good for you. I bet you are taking a big breath of relief. What zone are you in?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'm sure that I'd be planting mine in the ground and probably worrying just like you did if I lived in zone 8. What a great way to be able to grow brugs though. None of that dragging them in for the winter, repotting, all the labor intensive work that has to be done when we have to live in cold zones. Congrats on having them make it back up for another year of beautiful blooms.

They look great! How lucky to be able to leave them in the ground and have them come back every year.

I'm in zone 8b .. It is great having them in the ground .. i had to drag them in and out of doors for 2 winters before they went into the ground so i know what you mean.

Checked one bed on one side of the house and 18 of 24 has new growth coming out. Sure is nice to know we didn't have a bad winter this year.

Wow, 24! That must really keep you busy. Do you fertlize them as soon as they come up and what kind do you use? I didn;t think they would come back in N.Ga. Hope that I have a good second year with the brugs. Would love to go to roundup, but will be in N.Y.
