ID me for Mom

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

My Son was given this 2 years ago. It was a one leaf 2" stem and I thought my goodness what can I do with you. She was a piece off of a plant in a conservatory here in Indy. I don't have a name and my Son doesn't even remember where it was. I never worried about it than because I thought there was no way it would live.

It looks like the hardy begonia B. grandis var. evansiana to me.

I don't think this is it because the mother plant was much taller than 1.5'.

They can get semi-tall. Yours looks leggy - like it's reaching for the light.

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

I second Butch's ID, Diane. It looks like b. grandis to me. Mine are just now starting to pop up - they die to the ground here in the winter.

I hope I will see it bloom someday. It has to stay in the house because it is to cold here. It is sitting in a window that is really bright and sun comes in so I am hoping she likes it.
