Would a Brug do well here?

San Diego, CA(Zone 10b)

Hi, I have this kind of sad looking planting bed that needs some help. In the summer the heat from this wall bakes the plants here and my camellia really needs to be moved. I also have a new puppy and need to move a couple poisonous plants out of the back yard and into the front. What do you think, would a brug do well in this hot spot? I think it would look nice, especially when it gets a little height. I have one (pink ice?) that I was thinking of for here, and then maybe filling in around the bottom with some daylillies that also need to be moved. It has been growing in partial sun/partial shade for the last year and it really likes the spot it's in. Thanks for any advice! :) Christina

My guess would be that if it bakes other plants, it will bake a brug too. Maybe some cacti or even roses would work there. Daylilies might also do well.

In our climate my brugs did best with morning sun and afternoon shade, on the east side of my house. The ones I had on west side baked and didn't bloom until it was winter. They don't like to be baked. :-)

Ok, thanks. What a bummer as it would have been so pretty there. Any alternatives that might give a similar effect? What about Datura? I've never tried one of those.

Datura sounds like a great alternative. I'd give it a try and see what happens.

Monster is out in the blazing sun and loves it as long as I keep it watered but the others are not as pleased when it gets really hot. What about a butterfly bush?

Monster is a pretty one. It not only gets blazing sun, but reflected heat from the wall. Still think it would be ok? I'd love that if so.
