In celebration of Rhodie

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

I want this to be a happy thread, not a sad one. On Tuesday our beloved Rhodie was sent on her journey to Rainbow Bridge just one month to the day shy of her 7th birthday. She pulled up lame in one leg...after 3 weeks of meds there war no relief for her. We had x-rays done Tuesday morning. The leg was eaten up by bone cancer. Bill and I drove to the vets, got her in the jeep and the vet came out to the parking lot to send her on her way. After tears, hugs and kisses we headed home...the vet even gave her a big kiss goodby.

Our Rhodie Belle is in the Memory Garden now with our 5 Greyhounds. Yesterday we went to Lowes for landscape timbers, mulch, flowers and stepping stones for the flower pots. I chose to get the ones made of recycled rubber...our big girl needed a big chew toy. We burried her with her favorite football,a rope toy and a biscuit. When we were done a humming bird landed in the redbud tree next to where we were sitting.

Rhodie came to live with us when she was only 4 weeks old and no bigger then my slipper. She quickly grew to 150lbs. Rho loved to play catch and believed that she was "Mother" to the world. Pine cones, leaves and twigs were all brought into the house to be chewed up. One of my favorite funny memories is when we bought her a Wiggly Giggly ball...poor Rhodie was scared to death of it until she managed to chew a hole in it. Once the ball no longer "giggled" it became a favorite toy until it was totally destroyed.

And so, I invite all of you with babies at Rainbow Bridge to share a happy memory or two in celebartion of Rhodie who brought us so much love and happiness...you are loved my big girl.
