need some advice

i got three plumerias only one bloomed two flowers last year. all grown from seed. in 3 gallon pots at the moment. for the winter.

i have always kept them in pots but its getting to where i cant get big enough pots so want to put them in the ground for the summer.

my question is when fal comes what do i do?? dig them up let them stay in the ground? or what. can they stay in the ground mulched heavy??

If they are old enough that they have hard wood bases then you can dry them out for the winter.

Plumeria seedlings take 2-3 years to flower from seed, and the first bloom may change and may not look like subsequent blooms, which is why plumie seedlings have to be observed for three years before they can be registered as a cultivar with the PSA. How old are your seedlings? I have some two-year-old seedlings in five-gallon containers, and most of them are rootbound. Your plumerias will love being in the ground for the spring, summer, and perhaps part of the fall before you dig them up and bring them inside before the real cold hits in the fall. Plumerias are tropical in nature, and since it freezes hard where you live, they cannot survive in the ground even if they are mulched. They will turn to mush. This just came up recently.
