Question regarding taking off flowers

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I have a question about taking the flowers off of my african violets. When the flowers die, do we just take the flowers off? Do we just take them off right where the flower is joined to the the stalk? Or do we go all the way down the stalk and cut the stalk at is origin?

I always use my fingernails and snip them off at the base of the bloom stem.

Edited: I too, wait until they are all withered before removing the entire stem! I remove each blossom as it wilts.( I have 2 dozen pots of them.)

Jesse, if you have more buds on the stem, just take the dead flower off. If all the flowers on the stem are dead, nip the whole stem off.

Thanks guys. That is what I wanted to know.

Yes same here just take the dead ones off. many flower stems can have dozens of flowers. I don't take the whole thing off until all buds and flowers are gone !

I do the same as everyone above. The exception is when I see a seed pod forming. then I leave it on.I do trim the dead petals away though. so far, none have ripened up but I keep trying.
