I am looking for minature plants.

If anyhow has some they would like to trade..please let me know
CLOSED: Looking for miniature plants
I have a hosta that I ordered from Michigan Bulb Co that was supposed to be 'Frances Williams' which is normally a large hosta. That was 5 or 6 years ago and every year it comes up and only grows to 6 inches high. If you think it would work for your terrarium, let me know. It is just barely up now. The leaf is rounded, ribbed, dark green with a light green edge.
Louise
Oh that sounds cool....I don't have any hostas to trade though...is there anything you are looking for? Perhaps we can work out a trade.
I would like to have more named daylilies than I now have.
I looked at your trade list but only saw African violets and
I have very poor luck with those. What else might you have
for trade?
Louise
I have other gesneria..such as columnea, nemtanthus and such
I have cryptanthus
Hmm...I have philodendrons now (though none of them have pups at the moment)
I also have bamboo grass, a very pretty fern with red undersides..
I don't have any day lilies I am afraid.
Is your gesneria columnea the 'goldfish plant'? If so, that would work.
The cryptanthuus would be OK also. What size plants? just rooted cuttings?
Would you need more than one hosta eye/plant?
Louise
I would like a goldfish plant and the cryptanthus. How many hosta
would you want?
I hope we can trade,
Louise
The cryptanthus is a pup...if that is ok :) That is a picture of the mom plant :)
2 hostas would be good :)
and which goldfish..the variegated? the tropicana? or both?
Sure we can work out a trade.
Variegated Algerian Ivy, Canary Island Ivy, North African Ivy, Madeira Ivy 'Gloire de Marengo'
Hedera canariensis

I found the plant above in the DG plant files. I has the appearance of an ivy that is in my terrarium. The leaf is about 1" wide and 1 1/2" long, with two shades of green in the middle of the leaf and a white border. It is a slow grower which is good for the enclosed space. Do you think you might want a rooted piece of that for your terrarium? The runners are 8-10" long.
I hunted for something else to share because I wanted both the goldfish plants and the pup.
I could make sure that the 2 hostas were well rooted and with at least 2 eyes each. My entire clump with 5-6 years growth covers a place about 6 inches wide and 12-14 inches long in one of my beds, so I don't think the size would be a problem.
Let me know,
Louise
Sure Louise that works for me :)
And sure..I love the ivy :)
Send me your address and I will get this boxed up and shipped out on monday :)
I'm in the address exchange but for convenience:

I also have quite a bit of the burgundy oxalis reneglli triangularii. It has triangular shaped leaves, 3 on a stem, with lavender/pink blooms and
is edible. It grows to about 10" or so high and makes a wine-colored mound. I think I may try some of it in my terrarium. Would you like a few corms of it for a start? LMK
I will also ship to you on Monday,
Louise
Lorry,
I also have a large red bird cactus, or devil's backbone. If you would like a cutting of it, let me know and I will include it in the box.
Louise
Nope..i don't want devil's backbone :) I already have some growing in my cactus garden :) but if you like succulents..let me know..I can always send you some clippings of those in the box.
Yes, please send any that would fit in the box.
Thanks,
Louise
Ok shoot me your address and I will see what I can dig up over the weekend :)
Check the 6:37 p.m. post above. It's there.
Also, let me know about the burgundy plant.
Louise
Oh LOL sorry I missed that :) I would LOVE some.
I also have house bamboo and a couple other plants..
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/587050/
If you want to check them out and see if there is anything in there would would like to trade for you oxalis :)
In January, I started about 35 4" pots of the oxalis so I would have something to trade. I'm new on DG since Nov. They are very nice now so I will send you enough of that for a 10" hanging basket, or just separate plants to use as an edging.
I love the look of your new fern and the bamboo. Just a sprig of each for a start would really be nice.
I have a nice little fern in my terrarium that you might like. It spreads by fleshy light green roots on top of the ground half the diameter size of a pencil. It is about 10" high.
Another that I bought recently has feathery fronds arranged like a rosette and is about 6" high. I don't know it's growing habits yet but could send a piece of it if you like.
Just let me know which you are interested in.
I'm excited about our trade. I have only mailed out 8 or 10 boxes in trades or just postage. I love everything about DG (except the slowness at times) and have spent way too many hours on the site. But I am a widow for 6 years and live alone. By profession, I am a music teacher for 28 years, but by avocation, a gardener !!!! I had to cancel classes last September because of a pending back surgery but the doctor decided to handle it with medication as long as possible. I will resume teaching in a few days and continue through the summer to make up for lost time.
I have learned soooooo much from the DG members to make all of my gardening time more fun and successful.
Have a nice day,
Louise
I have a big pot of the bamboo so I could ship out a good portion and I definitely have enough of the fern to send you a start :)
Definitely sounds like a deal :) I will have it all out on monday.
Ok so I am sending a start of bamboo grass, a start of the red fern, cutting from tropicana goldfish plant and cuttings from the variegated goldfish plant, a pup of the raspberry cryptanthus and I will go through my succulents and see who can spare some clippings :)
Did I miss anything? I will also send you some columnea longaris (SP?) I am drowing in it and I think you might like it :)
I would also love some of the ferns :) I really need more for my terrariums..I have set up three and 2 of them are pretty sparse!
Thanks again hun and welcome to the forum!
I tend to spend way to much time on here also :) But as you said..I haved learned so much and just love sharing plants and getting to know such wonderful people.
Oh and I have some great little terrarium plants coming from ebay...some of them are 3 and 4 plant lots..when they get here..I will show you pictures..may be something you are interested in.
