WAY O/T but I can't help it!

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

I don't own these photos but they came in a bulk email to me today and I can't help but share them. Can we talk about patience here!? ( can hardly go a day without lifting a leaf since I'm so impatient, could never sculpt a baby!)
(I don't own these photos, nor claim copyright, they were in a bulk email - I suspect they are all over the web by now- hope I'm not commiting an offence by posting here)

Here's the text that came with the email.

You might appreciate these. Truly amazing and they are made of frosting!

THIS WOMAN IS DEFINITELY TALENTED.....

Marzipan Babies

Thought you'd be as fascinated with these as I.

These are made with marzipan....really unbelievable! While some of the faces may look "crafted" rather than "real", every detail is amazing, and the rest looks VERY real.

Definition of Marzipan

Almond paste: a sweet paste made of ground almonds and sugar, often with egg whites or yolks, used as a layer in cakes or molded into ornamental shapes.

UNBELIEVABLE!

WOW!WOW!WOW!

they look just like my newborn baby squirrels!!!( not really mine, I just rehab them.)

Abilene, TX

Well, they are amazing, but at first glance, I thought you were going to ask us to identify the unknown AV adversary you found among your plants. : ) It's been a long day............forgive me. : )

Anna, I dmailed you. Pam

Silver Spring, MD

Very funny, Pam

I looked at the photos before I read the explanation. I thought the were figurines and was so excited to find out where you got them.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Precious ! People eat them ?

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

I couldn't bring my self to actually 'eat' one. The thought makes me squirm. BUT I just thought they looked so life-like. And I can't even imagine taking the time to sculpt them.

Anna, never seen a baby squirrel. Although, living among 7 acres of walnuts, we have our fair share of squirrels. Both red and gray. and I love their frisky personalities as they hold those walnuts in their hand, I know they just want to throw it at my head!

Can you share a photo of your squirrel baby?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I know I could not eat them .. too weird. Maybe they put them on baby cakes.

Santa Barbara, CA(Zone 10b)

Those are amazing! Who could ever eat one??

And talking about squirrel babies, here is a picture my sister-in-law sent me of porcupine babies. Too cute!

how cute!!!! i have never seen a porcupine baby!!!!!!!!

spider
I have ??? about baby squirrels. my husband works in tree care and they often cute take down trees with baby squirrels in them. we had 2 that had just opened their eyes back at christmas. we bought kittens milk and a tiny bottle but they refused it so they started drinking water and eating pecans. we had them for a month or 2 they were all over the large cage we had them in. we were going to keep them then release in spring. all of a sudden they just died within a few days of each other. any ideas why?

Lilburn, GA

Hmmmm... it could be the wrong type of food, or aspiration pneumonia, i would have to have a look at them. they are tough creatures but sometimes they die for no apparent reason. Feeding them the right food is very important as they are prone to lots of nutritional problems, not only squirrels but all wildlife.

I will post a picture of some babies.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

thats unbelievable!

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

oh my goodness Joolz those porcupinettes are so cute! Albeit not so 'cuddly' looking.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh they sure are so cute look !

Lilburn, GA

arre there porcupines in GA?

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Amazing....(my MIL would love these...she collects 'baby dolls')!!

The porcupine babies are too cute, too!

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Wow those babies are soo cute- not sure I'd want to eat one, but I know that my husband would think that would be funny- he has a bit of a warped sense of humor. Must find them so that I can possibly freak him out 1st!

As far as those porcupine babies, amazing. I have seen lots of babies and had a few of my own, not to mention the human type, but those little buggers are really neat.

Spider, if you don't mind me asking, what is your connection to squirrel babies? Sounds like you actually know something, where as I just pretend I do.

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Sorry, not made of marzipan or edible at all:

WOW

Oh, to be so talented...I guess I'll just have to admire the pictures. Just a bit too pricey for me! LOL They're really beautiful!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I have to say, I'm relieved to discover these cuties are made out of polymer clay and not marzipan after all! I saw the photo at the top of the thread & thought, "awwwwwwww..." and then read that they were *edible* and thought, "ickkkkk!!! that's deeply disturbing!" LOL

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

oh my goodness, her web site is amazing. I can't believe the patience it takes to make one of those.

good thing they can't be eaten. that was too weird of a thought!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I see she starts them at $2.50 with no reserve . They are so cute. She sure is talented.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Gosh a young Artist so full of talent. The life size babies are so precious she makes too ~

Red Oak, NC(Zone 7b)

I have seen these before and thought they were really sweet. They would be good for a baby shower, I think. I have been to a few shower where you make a baby out of double bubble bubble gum for a game but they sure don't look like that!

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

I see them as one less thing I will spend money on- but I sure wish I was that talented...although, I bet she cant grow an AV from a leaf!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Very true April !

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Oh my that is way to cute.

Lilburn, GA

Am I imagining things or is that the price???????

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Good for her!!
I'll bet she's quite happy with the price of that first one....and just imagine when the 'word gets out'....she'll likely sell some higher than that!

(Whew.....wwwwwaaaaaayyyyy outta my budget's limits, too....I'd love to be able to buy one for my MIL!!!)

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Now if I were the artist I'd be saying, buy 2, they're small!
