Dead Trumpet Creeper?

Smyrna, GA

I have a beautiful trumpet vine that has well established itself over the past few years on an arbor and my fence. I noticed this spring that the remnants of last year’s branches are bleached white and I don’t see any new growth. I’m afraid it might be dead. How can I tell? Is there anything I can do to salvage this plant? What could have caused this?

i had one last year and i dont think it made it either. i thinks its the wacky weather we have had. my fire spike was growing new stuff and now its dead as a door nail do to these cold snaps. i think its the weather.

scape around the bottom of the base to see if its still green. other then that wait till it really warms up and see. the roots still may be good.

i have to agree with imzadi this weather bites, i planted 8 yellow trumpet vines two weeks ago in new ameded soil just as they stated to go green they dissapeared i think i lost em, all the cold variants and then the monsoon! dont like the weather? wait a minute itll change...
